The summer reading program in the Booth & Dimock Memorial Library Children's section is well underway! We are in our third week out of six and still have a lot of cool programs and events coming up!
Haven't signed up yet?! No worries there is still time! Register online!
There are two different age groups this year-- Birth through 2nd graders and 3rd through 5th graders.
Birth through 2nd grade: For every 10 books read you get a free book! Log your books on Evanced and then come to the children's section to claim your free book.
3rd grade through 5th grade: For every 400 pages read you get a free book! Log your pages on Evanced and then come to the children's section to claim your free book.
Something new for both groups this summer is the Summer Reading Passport! Make sure you pick up your passport at the children's desk. By earning stamps on your passport you will be entered to win a science experiment kit at the end of the summer! There are also weekly treasure chest prizes just for coming to the library!
Did I mention the totally awesome, fun, and educational programs we have coming up!?
Stop by July 17 and 24th at 2pm for Science Lab! Bring out your inner mad scientist and learn while doing fun science experiments. Our last two topics will be weather and engineering.
Bring your creativity on July 16 and 30th at 1pm for a drop in craft activity, Creative Kids! July 16 is musical instruments and the 30th is making your own book.
Get ready to learn and make at Maker Mornings on July 18, 25, and Aug 1 at 10:30am! Each kid will get to experience, invent, and create in a STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) environment. Our next three themes will be engineering, art, and electricity!

Summer reading programs are amazing! I still remember how they encouraged me to constantly read and pursue knowledge. A great book to add to the mix is "THE ADVENTURES OF CEE LO THE DUCK" on Amazon's Kindle. http://amzn.to/1stn9uq
