Snow, Snow & More Snow!

Yep - CT is gearing up for yet another round of snow! What do you do when the weather is frightful? We suggest stocking up on some books! We've got cookbooks just for kids (learn a new recipe), craft books, game books (play a game together), and so much more. You can also listen to some new music - we've got a lot of fabulous music CDs. You can download free audiobooks for kids, too. Just visit http://connstatelib.myilibraryaudio.com/ - with  your library card you can "check out" downloads just like books! Plug in "juvenile" in the search box to narrow your choices down to just kids' audiobooks.

Of course, we have lots of videos, too. Whatever you do, have fun and be safe!

The first is a rare and precious emerald. When the magic tree house whisks them back to India over four hundred years ago to search for the jewel, they discover an amazing and exotic world filled with great danger. Will Jack and Annie find what they're looking for? Will they avoid the wrath of the all-powerful Great Mogul, survive a crazy ride on a wild elephant, escape an attack by king cobras--and make it back to the magic tree house alive?

STORYBLOCKS: Songs & Rhymes to Help Build Readers

I wanted to share this fantastic resource with everyone! It's a website called STORYBLOCKS, and it is a project of Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy, working in partnership with Rocky Mountain Public Broadcasting Services. It is a collection of 30-60 second videos designed to model to parents and caregivers some songs, rhymes, and fingerplays appropriate for early childhood. Each video clip includes helpful early literacy tips to increase caregivers’ understanding of child development and pre-literacy needs. Take a look!
