Write a letter to Santa, just in time for the big day! Santa's Mailbox will be located in the Children's Room (as well as the Town Hall and at the Tree Lighting) until Dec. 2.

To celebrate, we're raffling off 1 brand new copy! Just visit the library, answer a few trivia questions, and enter to win! Raffle entries will be accepted until 5 PM on Nov. 15.

COVENTRY e-BLAST (Nov. 6, 12 PM)

Power still out to 17% of town, but CL&P is predicting that they will make their projection of 99% restoration in Coventry by midnight. If your power is still not on, call CL&P at 1-800-286-2000 to assist in location of individual service issues. School will take place at Coventry Public Schools on Monday. Showers are available at CHS until 11 PM tonight, but will close to the public as school resumes for students. Town Hall Conference Room B available for charging, warming & Internet until 10 PM tonight. Water (bring containers), bottled water and meals ready-to-eat available at Town Hall Annex side entrance from 8 AM -- 5 PM today ONLY for people who are still without power. The Regional Shelter at Mansfield Community Center is now closed. Brush debris at gravel pit off South St. Ext. near Miller-Richardson field until 5 PM daily including Sunday. Illegal dumping of brush debris in other areas will be enforced. Voting will take place in Coventry as scheduled on Tuesday, 11/8 at GH Robertson School (District 1) and Coventry Grammar School (District 2).

Coventry is at 55% without power. Restoration is making progress in CL&P's Southern District. The Northern District served by Tolland is still in a cut & clear mode with little restoration planned for today. Senior Center open extended hours today until 4:30 PM. Library open until 8 PM for warming, charging and Internet -- free movie matinee at 2 PM. Brush debris may be dropped off at gravel pit off South St. Ext. until 5 PM daily. Water, bottled water and meals ready-to-eat available at Town Hall Annex side entrance until 7 PM and again tomorrow beginning at 9 AM. Town Hall Conference Room B open until 10 PM for warming and charging. Regional shelter tonight at Mansfield Community Center, intersection Rts. 275 & 195 -- arrive by 8:30 PM latest. Showers available at CHS 24 hours.  

Coventry Public Schools are closed for the rest of this week. No out-of-town transportation will be provided. The CHS Homecoming dance for Saturday is also postponed until a future date and time. Please be safe: do not use generators or gas grills indoors and follow directions for portable space heaters to avoid fires and carbon monoxide poisoning. Boil water advisories in following areas: Pilgrim Hills, Twin Hills, General Water, Coventry Hills and Country Place. Residential wells are not under this order. Coventry Public Schools will be closed Wednesday November 2, 2011 due to hazardous conditions. There will be no out-of-town transportation. College transcripts have been completed for Coventry High School Seniors. Much appreciation goes to the High School Guidance and Secretarial staff.
