COVENTRY E-BLAST (Nov. 2):

Coventry is at 55% without power. Restoration is making progress in CL&P's Southern District. The Northern District served by Tolland is still in a cut & clear mode with little restoration planned for today. Senior Center open extended hours today until 4:30 PM. Library open until 8 PM for warming, charging and Internet -- free movie matinee at 2 PM. Brush debris may be dropped off at gravel pit off South St. Ext. until 5 PM daily. Water, bottled water and meals ready-to-eat available at Town Hall Annex side entrance until 7 PM and again tomorrow beginning at 9 AM. Town Hall Conference Room B open until 10 PM for warming and charging. Regional shelter tonight at Mansfield Community Center, intersection Rts. 275 & 195 -- arrive by 8:30 PM latest. Showers available at CHS 24 hours.

Coventry Public Schools are closed for the rest of this week. No out-of-town transportation will be provided. The CHS Homecoming dance for Saturday is also postponed until a future date and time. Please be safe: do not use generators or gas grills indoors and follow directions for portable space heaters to avoid fires and carbon monoxide poisoning. Boil water advisories in following areas: Pilgrim Hills, Twin Hills, General Water, Coventry Hills and Country Place. Residential wells are not under this order.
